During my community health diagnosis trip to Dolakha District, Nepal, I was deeply moved by the stories of many women suffering from uterine prolapse. This experience opened my eyes to the widespread yet hidden struggle these women face.
Dolakha District is a picturesque area surrounded by mountains and lush greenery. However, beneath its serene beauty lies a silent health crisis. As a part of my study, my mission was to gather data on community people’s health issues. Little did I know that I would uncover a significant problem affecting many women; uterine prolapse.

Rethinking Period Products in School Restrooms

Reflecting on my school days, I am reminded of the significant challenges that many of us faced due to the lack of adequate facilities and support for managing periods. Unlike some schools that had a dedicated nurse or medical room, my school did not offer such a luxury. The absence of these facilities meant that when periods arrived unexpectedly, there was no immediate or discreet access to necessary period products.

I was given a responsibility to conduct workshops on topic menstrual health and hygiene management in school setting this year. I was really excited about the opportunity to conduct workshops and interact with diverse groups of individuals. To commence, I mapped out potential schools for me to conduct workshops that also were easy for me to reach from my place. I reached out to many schools to communicate and brief the school authority about the workshop theme and the topics to be included during the session.
