On a sunny day in July, I was enjoying my vacation with my friend and while returning home, I saw something horrifying, at least that's what 10 years old me thought. I grew up in a joint family with my grandparents, parents and brother. I was 10 years old when I got my first period. I still remember vividly, calling my mother for help while I waited in the toilet for an hour because she wasn't home. I kind of knew what was happening, but did not know what to do about it. And when she finally came, she handed me a thick cotton pad and instructed me to layer another cloth pad underneath it. Since menstruation was deeply stigmatized in Nepali society.....

Menstruation is more than just a biological process; it is a natural and essential part of life. However, for many young girls, the onset of menstruation is often met with fear, confusion, and societal taboos. This is where Sarathi steps in not just as a word, but as an advocate for menstrual awareness and education.  As a part of Sarathi, I have had the privilege of conducting workshops aimed at educating students about menstruation.
