Menstruation is a natural phenomenon and happens to every girl and women around the world. Normally four day of period of time blood flowing from the vagina. We women are the creators of new life into the world, and our periods are a part of that process. And about my first experience when I got menstruation, I still remember my first day of menstruation at that time I was just hanging with my friends as usual and all of the sudden I felt uneasy but I didn’t care about that. Today is such a bad day, I am so tired. I can’t hang on these bars of “Nepal Yatayat”. Ooouch!! Stupid girl, how dare she step on my foot with her pointed heels? And look at her sitting comfortably. 365 days they keep on singing “Girl power! Girl power!!”, however when time comes they can’t stand for five minutes in a bus. I am sure they would have almost killed poor me, have I seated on that so called “Mahila seat”, as if we men have vertebra of iron, born with outstanding capacity to stand. Ridiculous!! Anyways I am home. Now I just want to surrender myself to my bed. Ah!! Bed is love. “Bishal! Bishal!! …” Yes mom, “oh! You’re home at the righ.....

If someone asks me what are the things that I love and hate at the same time, my answer would be, siblings and menstruation. These two are the best part of our lives. They make us feel blessed. For me, these two things are quite similar. Can you imagine your life without siblings? Can you imagine how your life would be without menstruation? The answer to both the questions is NO. What does a teenage girl fear the most?? Pimples?? Marks at School?? Rejection in Love life?? No. There’s something even bigger. Stains. Stains of shame. In Nepal, the average age for girls to start menstruating is 12-14 years. These years are the most vulnerable years of a teenage girl. They are just coming to terms with their sexuality when the added burden of menstruation adds up to their misery. It happens like this. Just a normal day in school. She feels pain in her lower abdomen, she doesn’t know what it is. She has felt it for the first time. Some of her classmates know the pain and they try to help her. But the classroom is full of boys.....
