"Teenage Pregnancy: Curse for Girls"
Teenage pregnancy is one that occurs when a woman is 19 years old or younger. Adolescents are people between the ages of 10 and 19 who are figuring out their sexuality, and some young couples may start sexual relationships, which leads to many girls conceiving earlier than the right age of the pregnancy. Teen pregnancy is still a complex topic to understand. Most people do not realize that teen pregnancy can be caused by numerous factors. It is not just a result of irresponsibility.
Similarly, we all know teen pregnancy is still a stereotype worldwide, and Nepal is also not exempt from it. People start staring, pointing, whispering, and asking rude, hurtful questions to those girls. They know they are getting negative attention from others, but they have to become quiet and limit their promising future.
Sometimes we find ourselves on a road that is totally unexpected. Some of those roads often lead to beautiful destinations, while others lead to the worst. For instance, the same thing happens to those teen-pregnant girls. Approximately 80% of teen pregnancies are unintended, and approximately 12 million of them give birth. Complications due to pregnancy and childbirth are the leading cause of death for 15 to 19-year-old girls. However, its impact is not only limited to the mother and the baby but also to those who are going to become fathers and to society.
By all means, life as a teenage mother will be filled with a number of challenges. However, incredible support, education, and empowerment are necessary with the conviction that their challenging journey will lead them to a beautiful destination that will be far more amazing than they have ever imagined or dreamed. Furthermore, strategies to tackle social issues, clinical and social support for teenage mothers, and contraception services for young people and every teenager should be provided.
