The World Health Organization defines Family Planning as “The ability of individuals and couples to anticipate and attain their desired number of children and the spacing and timing of their births. It is achieved through the use of contraceptive methods and the treatment of involuntary infertility.” The definition itself helps us understand the benefits of Family Planning. Avoiding unintended pregnancies, reducing the spread of Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs), and helping reduce the rates of infertility by addressing the problem of STDs are the most important ones.

It’s the second wave of the Covid pandemic, worsening uncertainty to any extent possible. Everyone might not be aware of the pandemic having unequal, multiple, compounding, and unmeasurable impacts. Since we are not much exposed to media, amidst the financial and health news the marginalized groups and poor people are far to be heard. I am sure the impacts are unequal as per classes, geography, and countries. Today I will be sharing my story, well in fact a turnover of my life.

I am a single child. Ya, ya I get it, the image of one pampered, arrogant, and dramatic girl running over your mind. But that’s fine, that’s how the media portrays if a girl is privileged enough as the son. The biggest ultimate value of my purpose began here. People tag me as a feminist and whatever, but I am particularly not a fan of these words before my name. Why is it even made to sound the opposite of men? I wonder. I am speaking about injustice on women but people are abusing me saying that’s not how an ‘’good daughter’’ grows to be. I might not be an ideal daughter for you but I am definitely an ideal.....

These are some of the instances we come across very often. It is called body shaming. Body shaming, as the name implies is an act of making critical, potentially humiliating comments about a person's body size, weight or height. Body shaming is never cool. It is a form of bullying. It can cause physical and mental trauma to the one being body shamed.
