SheDecides is a global political movement driving change, fuelled by actions in communities, with young people at its heart. Within the global movements there are strong and forceful local movements making real change happen – shifting social norms; adapting laws, policies and procedures that block access to rights; and unlocking resources for quality services. Visible Impact is part of one of these local movements- SheDecides Nepal. As a core team of this movement, Visible Impact is working together with Beyond Beijing Committee and Right Here Right Now Nepal to stand up and speak out, change the rules and unlock resources on three issues- Gender based violence including LGBTIQ violence, Safe Motherhood and Adolescent’s Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights.
SheDecides Nepal movement marked International Safe Abortion Day, 2020 by organizing an online event on 30th September 2020 under the theme #WhyAbortionWhyNow” to raise awareness on abortion rights. The event was aimed to create a safe space for young people to come together and share knowledge and experiences on safe abortion. A total of 70 people including the organizers participated in the program. The participants were mostly young people while representatives from CSOs and medias were also present.
The program consisted of five main highlights: Storytelling, Live Musical performance Podcast, Breakout sessions and Live art.
This movement is taking shape and through this Visible Impact aims to engage, organize and catalyze changes for ensuring bodily autonomy and rights of young people.
