Diversity in Identity

June a whole month is globally celebrated as a pride month,  a time to celebrate love, identity, diversity and ongoing journey towards equality for LGBTQ+ communities around the world.

Pride month is a month to honor the courage and resilience of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and other gender and sexual minority individuals. The community we live in identifies only two gender i.e, male and female and any individual who are outside this gender are seen with high dislike or are treated with disgust and humiliation. The rule or nature of the community has always caused disruptions between the people with their loved ones. Either its with intercaste marriage or being a gay, lesbian or any queer group, people always have problem with the relation being created. Due to this conservative society, the people are unable to express their feelings and their true self and are always pushed towards a dark corner full of humiliation.

Acceptance and social support play a great role for both physical, mental and social health. With these communities into existence, continuous effort should be made so that their voices and existence can be seen and felt. They should be treated as a part of society. A society is strengthened, creative and inclusive when people are free to express who they are. June is a month of rainbow colours meaning involving every type of individual with unique traits and nature that colourfully contribute to the community. Beyond colourful parades and celebrations, Pride month is about acknowledging history, amplifying voices and promoting a society where everyone can feel safe, respected, valued and love for what they are. Pride month is symbolized by the rainbow flag, which celebrates the diversity that enriches our world. It is seen as a festival and the whole month is celebrated by running various programs and activities.

It is not necessary that all the people around world shall have same sexual orientation, some may have same sex attraction or some may have no sexual orientation  as well . Whatever the orientation the individual has free right to choose his/her nature of orientation and live with dignity and pride so this June is celebrated as a pride month .

Sexual orientation and gender identity are diverse aspects of human experience. Regardless of an individual’s orientation or identity, every person deserves equal rights, dignity, respect, and the freedom to express themselves without fear of discrimination. Pride Month is therefore not only a celebration of diversity but also a call for greater understanding, acceptance, and inclusion in society.
