Perfection Is Not Always Good

BY: RAHIMAT

Many times in life, we don’t move forward because we want everything to be perfect. We think, “This is not right time” or “If this becomes better, then I will start.” We wait for the right time, the right tools, and the perfect situation. But the truth is most of the time life is not perfect and that is all fine.

I learned this lesson from my own experience.

I have my own YouTube channel called EmpowerwithRahimat. I wanted to start it in 2023, and I was very passionate about it. But I kept delaying it. Sometimes I felt my YouTube channel name was not perfect. Sometimes I doubted my mobile camera quality. Other times I felt my background was not good, or I didn’t have clear content ideas. I had too many expectations from myself and because of that I kept postponing something I really wanted to do.

Another thing that held me back was language. I wanted to make videos in my local language, Awadhi, because that is how I can express myself in better way. But I kept thinking that posting in Awadhi on social media was not good enough or not perfect. I thought people might not accept it, or it might not look professional. That thought stopped me for a long time.

One day, I finally decided to stop overthinking. I recorded a small reel and posted it on my YouTube channel without worrying about the camera, background, noise, or language. I didn’t wait for perfection I just started. And that small step changed my mind-set completely.

That moment made me realize something very important: starting is more important than being perfect. No one is perfect. We learn only after we start. We improve only by doing that work we wanted to do, as I did. If we keep waiting for perfection, we may never take the first step.

Now, I am working on my YouTube channel continuously. I am learning with every video, gaining confidence, and growing slowly. Most importantly, I feel at peace and very happy  because I finally chose action over fear and did what i wanted from 2023.

Perfection is not always good. Sometimes, it becomes a barrier. Life is not about waiting for everything to be perfect, it is about starting with what you have, accepting imperfections, and moving forward.

So if you have something you truly want to do, don’t wait. And I strongly recommend that Just go and  Start whatever ever you wanted to do. Start imperfectly. Because progress begins the moment you take the first step.
