Introduction
National CSE Advocacy Coalition is a network of organizations working in the field of Comprehensive Sexuality Education established in 2022 under the technical and financial support of UNFPA, Nepal. National CSE Advocacy Coalition targets key stakeholders, which are government, young individuals and CSOs for the proper implementation and delivery of CSE in a way that is more inclusive, attainable and age appropriate. Through innovative and contextual approach, the coalition seeks to include CSE in broader and comprehensive manner for young individuals to empower and to equip individual with informed decision-making skills.
Each second year of the tenure a new Co-chair is elected from the core working group while the previously appointed Co-chair takes the responsibility of the Secretariat. During the establishment period 2022/23 National CSE Advocacy Coalition was led by YUWA as a Secretariat while Visible Impact served as a Co-chair, similarly the year 2024/25, the secretariat position was secured by Visible Impact and Co-chair by Social Changemakers and Innovators.
Major activity
Post CSE Conference Roundtable Discussion
On 1st December 2024, a Post National CSE Conference Roundtable Discussion was held chaired by Hon. Bidya Bhattarai, former minister of Ministry of Education Science and Technology. As an follow up of the National CSE Conference, the roundtable discussion facilitated gaining insights on the strategies led by CEHRD, CDC, FWD, MOWCSC through panel discussion. It aided in presenting the significance of CSE in promoting gender equality, addressing GBV, empowering youth to make informed decisions for a dignified life.
Consultation on Integrating CSE and SRHR in CEDAW Shadow Report.
In presence of Technical Working Group Members of National CSE Advocacy Coalition, a consultation event was held on 19th December 2025. The event identified key challenges, gaps and recommendations on SRHR and CSE in Nepal. The event assisted in the development of Shadow Report fostering collaboration and commitment to advocate and implement appropriate action mainstreaming CSE aligning to context of Nepal.
Periodic meetings
In the tenure of 2024, two periodic meetings were held with the aim to strengthen the advocacy movement sharing progress, achievement to develop ownership and accountability among the core working group meeting. The meeting further aided in effective planning of the event causing effectiveness and mobilisation of resources more efficiently.
Digital Sexuality Education
With the aim of providing authentic and appropriate information on CSE, a digital platform was created. The social media platform aided in generation of information through fun and interactive manner through interactive quiz contest, video contest. Marking health events such as 16 days of activism against Gender Based violence, information were disseminated through flyers, video reels highlighting the significance of CSE aligning to the theme of the to reduce and address GBV.
Capacity Strengthening Workshop: Movement Building
In close collaboration with Right Here Right Now 2, a residential workshop was organised for Movement building to strengthen the capacity of the core working group member of National CSE Advocacy Coalition. The workshop accentuated on equipping the core working group members with skills in strategic planning, campaign development for movement-based advocacy on CSE in Nepal.
Our Impact
Developed the advocacy agenda of coalition to strengthen the CSE movement in Nepal.
Integrating the aspect of CSE and SRHR, National CSE Advocacy Coalition submitted the first shadow report in the international forum highlighting CSE and providing concrete recommendations.
With the strong urge for Health to be recognized as a compulsory subject in the interactive dialogue among the key stakeholders from MOWSCS, FWD, CDC, collective insights and commitments were generated.
Capacitated core working group members for the movement building and advocacy on CSE.
Close coordination with Technical Working Group (TWG) members, including government representatives, created opportunities to reinforce the importance of CSE and ensure its effective implementation at all levels.
